“International conference on the E-Cigarette: patterns of use and health impacts”

The French National Cancer Institute, a government agency, organizes an international conference on the E-Cigarette in Paris on 5-6th December 2022. This conference aims to create opportunities to disseminate and discuss the latest research evidence, ongoing research on the E-Cigarette, and to network with international researchers from various disciplines on several aspects: trajectories of users, patterns of use, health impacts; and also identify research gaps that could help inform a future European research agenda on e-cigarettes.

This call of abstracts is launched to give you the opportunity to submit and present your ongoing and innovative scientific studies – notably focus in Europe and from various disciplines (human and social sciences, epidemiology, public health, clinical and fundamental sciences) – for a poster, an oral presentation or a symposium, of the two themes detailed below.

  • E-cigarette patterns of use
Presentations may cover trends in usage patterns of e-cigarettes among ever-smokers and never-smokers of conventional cigarettes. This may include uptake of e-cigarette use, trajectories of use alongside tobacco use (dual use patterns) and cessation of use. Moreover, the role of e-cigarette use in relation to smoking initiation, diversion from smoking onset, smoking cessation and relapse prevention. Studies on current representations, beliefs and perceptions of e-cigarettes and vaping among smokers and non-smokers will be accepted. Reporting of interventional studies in sub-populations will be welcome, (eg vaping prevention among young non-smokers, product switching among smokers etc.). Studies modelling the impact of use patterns in a public health calculus will be welcome.
  • Health Impacts of e-cigarette use
Presentations may cover health risks of use of e-cigarettes as compared with non-use of products and/or tobacco smoking. Study types may span chemical characterization of e-liquids and their emissions, risk assessment, in vitro and in vivo studies, studies of acute physiological reactions in humans, epidemiological and interventional studies, including the effect on bystanders.

Abstract will be reviewed by the international scientific committee, composed by experts on this topic.

We invite all researchers to read the following general conditions before submission and to consult the website of this conference for more information: e-cigconference-2022.com
