Jérémie Pourchez

Jérémie Pourchez received his Ph.D. in Chemical and Process Engineering in 2006. He is a senior researcher since 2012 at the Center for Health Engineering at Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Saint Etienne. A world-renowned expert on particles inhalation, he is currently the manager of the “aerosol team” of Mines Saint-Etienne – INSERM lab U1059. He has developed original interdisciplinary skills applied to inhalation toxicology and the administration of drugs by the respiratory route. The excellence of the research carried out results in the publication of 100+ research papers. He is an expert on multidisciplinary research on ENDS devices. He joined in 2017 the French ANSES expert group working on tobacco and vaping products and published 10+ research papers since 2017 about ENDS (emissions features, potential gateway impact and teens use, in vitro toxicology issues).

Véronique Régnier

Véronique Régnier-Denois is a medical anthropologist (PhD – HDR) in Jean Monnet University of St Etienne. She has developed qualitative methodologies and used them in several contexts. She has initiated and carried out innovative prevention and research projects in France with the aim of promoting the science of prevention in the field of cancer. The involvement of populations, social representations of health and the understanding of how prevention messages can be constructed and received are major themes to which she has contributed very actively. Since September 2019, she has been in charge of organizing and managing this PRESAGE Institute, dedicated to health prevention, which brings together ten laboratories of the University Jean Monnet.

Lion Shahab

Dr Shahab is Professor of Health Psychology at University College London and past President for the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco – Europe. He trained in psychology, epidemiology and neuroscience and has more than 18 years’ experience in addiction research, tobacco control and health psychology. Dr Shahab’s expertise spans work on novel behavioural and pharmacological smoking cessation interventions, biomarkers, tobacco product regulation and policy, digital health and tobacco and alcohol use epidemiology. Dr Shahab has collaborated with academic as well as non-academic (e.g., governmental and non-governmental) partners and to date has authored over 160 scientific papers, reports and reviews in this area.

Christophe Tzourio

Christophe Tzourio, MD, PhD, has a dual training in clinical neurology and epidemiology. He was initially trained as a vascular neurologist and served as senior registrar of Neurology at Saint-Antoine Hospital in Paris. He is Professor of epidemiology at the University of Bordeaux since September 2013 and was Director of the Bordeaux Population Health (BPH) Research Center U1219 which comprises 13 teams and more than 500 staff members until January 2022.

Prof. Tzourio has worked mainly in the field of epidemiology of neurological and mental health diseases. He is a leading researcher in this area, and has been invited to give many keynote lectures in plenary sessions of international meetings and to write editorials in international journals. He has published >440 original papers which have been cited >43,000 times in international peer-reviewed journals (H index = 89).

Within the framework of the prestigious call ‘Investment for future’ Prof. Tzourio has been awarded a large grant (5.2 million €) for setting up a cohort study among students, the i-Share study: Internet-based students’ health research enterprise. This e-cohort has more than 21,000 participants, and is exploring several major population health issues. With one of his Post-doc student, Sherazade Kinouani who is also an expert in addiction, they have explored the consumption of e-cigarette and its relation with tobacco smoking in young adults.
